Portamus Gaudium chamber group is a female choir which has been present on the music scene in Toruń and Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province for 20 years. Agnieszka Brzezińska, PhD, the director of the Chopin Centre in Szafarnia, is a founder and choir director. The choir is part of the Faculty of Theology, NCU in Toruń and since October 2015 has been counted among student organisations. Kinga Kriger, a theology student and choir singer is its president and Rev. Dr hab. Piotr Roszak is a choir coordinator. The aim of the choir is to continue the tradition of singing groups in Toruń, develop musical talents of university students, perform during faculty events, integrate academic community and represent the Faculty of Theology at festivals and choir competitions in Poland and abroad. Portamus Gaudium also initiates academic activities which promote church music and musical heritage of our region contributing to the popularisation of theological studies among people interested in sacral music.
Portamus Gaudium performs a rich repertoire of early, classical, religious and contemporary music. In 2004 the choir recorded a CD with religious music “Kochajcie Go jak mnie.” Portamus Gaudium performs in Poland and abroad. Recently we have been on a concert tour in Spain. Rehearsals take place at 6.30 p.m. each Friday in Room 22 of the Faculty of Theology, NCU in Toruń. We welcome every student interested in singing with us. The Latin name of the choir means “we bring joy.” For more information visit https://pl-pl.facebook.com/pages/Portamus-Gaudium/474190829320533 .
