ALEKSANDRA SIMIŃSKA

She was born in 1962. She studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Mikołaj Kopernik University (MKU) in Toruń. In 1988, she received her diploma with distinction in the painting workshop of Professor Janusz Karczmarski. Between 1989 and 1993, she worked at the MKU Faculty of Fine Arts. As of 2000 she took the post of associate professor of the Warmińsko-Mazurski University (WMU) in Olsztyn. She was the Head of the Painting and Drawing Section and later Head of the Painting and Drawing Workshop. Until 2006, she led the painting workshop in the Fine Arts Section of the Warmińsko-Mazurski University in Olsztyn. Currently she is working at the Technological and Natural University (TNU) in Bydgoszcz. She is Vice-President of the Association of Polish Artists (ZPAP) in the Bydgoszcz region. She paints and draws. She is the author of several painting series: "Dual landscape", "Conversations with other artists", Islands", "Interiors with a box", "Still nature with axe", "Priestesses of Bacchus", to name just a few. On two occasions she received a scholarship from the Minister of Art and Culture. In 1998, she obtained a scholarship from the Fund for Developing Independent Polish Literature and Science in Paris. In the same year she was distinguished with an artistic scholarship offered by the President of Bydgoszcz. In 2000, she won a prize awarded by the Cultural Information Centre in Bydgoszcz for her exhibition in the BWA in Bydgoszcz that was deemed the artistic event of 1999. In 2000, she received an award from the Second-level Chancellor of the WMU for scientific achievements. In 2006, she received a prize for scientists at TNU from the President of Bydgoszcz. She also received several prizes in painting competitions.
