KAZIMIERZ ROCHECKI

Between 1980 and 1985 he studied in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Since 1985 he has been working, currently as a professor, at the Department of Drawing in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. His artistic activity includes painting, drawing, interior design of sacred places, mural painting and stained glass. He is the author of 36 solo exhibitions and a participant in over 180 collective ones. His works have been exhibited both in Poland and abroad, e.g. in Germany, Lithuania, Holland, France, USA and Canada. He has been twice granted the scholarship of the Ministry of Culture and Art.
For his paintings and artistic activities he has been given, among other things: in 1987 and 1993 a commendation in the Competition for the Work of Art of the Year, in 1995 the Award of the Governor of Toruńskie for promoting Polish culture abroad, in 1996 the First Prize and the title of "The Work of the Year 1995" for his triptych drawing at the 3rd Polish Artists' Association (ZPAP) Annale, in 1997 the Award of the President of the City of Toruń for painting in the competition "The Work of Art of the Year 1996", organised by the Polish Artists Association from the Toruń area (ZPAP Okręg Toruń), and in 1999 the Second Prize for painting in the competition "The Work of Art of the Year". In 1999 he won the Grand Prix in the Polish Painting Competition "Aqua Fons Vitae" - in Bydgoszcz, in 2000 a medal at the 9th Biennial of Sacral Art - Sacrum '2000, in Gorzów Wielkopolski in 2002 a commendation at the 10th Biennial of Sacral Art, in 2003 the Award of the President of Lithuania during a symposium and outdoor painting workshops in Numenitis, Lithuania.
Kazimierz Rochecki's paintings and works can be found in sacral buildings mainly in the south of Poland but also in Toruń, in the Sanctuary of God's Mercy (stained glass), and also in museums, galleries and private collections in Poland, Holland, France, Italy, the Vatican, Germany, Lithuania, the USA and Canada, including in the Miniatuur-Museum - Reflex Modern Art Gallery in Amsterdam (Holland), Office de la Jeunesse - Bruay la Buissiere (France), Del Bello Gallery - Toronto (Canada), a collection of gifts for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican, BWA Gallery of Art in Krosno, Toruń, a collection of the Polish Painting Foundation and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lesko, the Regional Museum in Toruń, the Archdiocese Museum in Przemyśl and the Diocese Museum in Płock.
Between 2001 and 2006 Kazimierz Rochecki was also a member of the management board of the Polish Painting Foundation, which he chaired for three years. He is the initiator and co-organiser of all editions of the Forum of Polish Painting. Moreover, since the beginning of his artistic activity, he has often supported various social, sacral and charity institutions with his works and projects.
